The night a VO65 hit
a coral reef.

November 29, 2014. Team Vestas Wind ran aground on the Cargados Carajos shoals north of Mauritius during Leg 2 of the Volvo Ocean Race. All nine crew survived. The boat was a total loss.

The grounding became one of the most documented incidents in modern offshore racing. The wreck was salvaged from the reef, the boat was rebuilt over the following six months, and Vestas Wind returned to the race for Leg 8 in Lisbon.
